Over the past winter months, many people have been in-between moving house and have needed a temporary base for a few months.
Byre Cottages are the perfect base, near Worthing, Brighton and Chichester and nestled into the South Downs in the beautiful and easily accessible countryside in West Sussex with many public footpaths and public bridleways. Steeped in history, our holiday cottages feature high ceilings and original timber beams.
We are now saying goodbye to our lovely tenants from the past few months and so looking forward to taking bookings for those who would like to take time over the spring and summer months in our self-catering holiday cottages on a working Downland farm in West Sussex. Footpaths and bridleways, perfect for walkers and cyclists, are accessible straight from your doorstep and only a short distance from the famous South Downs Way where far-reaching views of rolling green hills will greet you.
We love to welcome everyone and couples often return to stay here for a relaxed break and enjoy the outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, table tennis table – all exclusive for your use – whilst young families return to enjoy collecting eggs from our chickens with Pepper, our Spaniel, who has a very mild and warm nature and loves children to play with her. After collecting fresh eggs from our chickens, guests love to buy the same eggs for their breakfast. Parents also find it is a fun and tasty way of teaching their children about where eggs come from!
We have five self-catering holiday cottages which can accommodate two – six people with light and cosy living space, high ceilings and original timber beams; some have private patios with herb garden and one has a conservatory to sit in and absorb the warmth of the sun whilst you eat take-away lunch from the cafe at The Old Workshop (open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays), is a stone’s throw away from the holiday cottages and serves delicious, homemade food perfect for everyone with vegan and gluten free options available; the menu changes every week.
The sun shines on the picnic tables on the communal lawn perfectly, ideal for alfresco eating and spending time with your family and friends. Extended families generally love to stay in a few of our holiday cottages at the same time so that they can experience Sullington Manor Farm together; some having tennis tournaments or competitions in the swimming pool (but each family unit in their own cottage).
It is also possible to hire bikes and have them delivered directly to our farm in West Sussex, where you can then explore the wonders of the popular South Downs where are less travelled routes as well. There are, also, very picturesque walks which start and finish on the farm (no cars needed, just good shoes!).
The cafe at The Old Workshop can provide a custom ‘Pick-Up-A-Picnic’ where you choose your delicious menu beforehand and pick it up in a beautiful wicker hamper to enjoy with your loved ones on top of the South Downs.
We hope to see you soon at your next holiday destination on Sullington Manor Farm in West Sussex!
